registered as a fairtrade goldsmith with the Goldsmiths Registration Scheme. This enables me to buy Fairgold so I can participate in the Fairtrade story and support Fairtrade certified artisanal miners.

Gold is a symbol of love and wealth, but a look behind the scenes shows a bitter reality.

Small-scale miners work in remote, marginalised and harsh conditions, doing back-breaking work to scrap a living. They are consistently exploited by middle men, their access to markets is limited and they rarely receive a fair price for their gold. The conditions they work in are hazardous with little or no health and safety measures in place.

The Fairtrade Gold I use is produced fairly and transparently.

When buying jewellery made with Fairtrade Gold you make a difference to the miners, their families, environment and their communities. Your support can provide them with the chance to be paid a fair price, better working conditions, build their futures by investing in social projects such as new schools and healthcare, and make their own way to prosperity.

Fairtrade certified gold comes from artisanal and small-scale mining organisations (ASMOs) that meet the Fairtrade Standard for Gold and Precious Metals. This means the gold has been responsibly mined and that the miners have received a Fairtrade Minimum Price and Premium, which assists social, environmental and economic development in the communities.

I'm currently working on a special 100% fairtrade collection.

Off course, also commissioned pieces can be made with Fairtrade gold. Please contact me for the possibilities.
