I'm an artist and contemporary jewellery designer based in Amsterdam.
I was trained as a goldsmith during a technical education in Amsterdam.
After this I studied Fine Arts and Education. Throughout my art studies, jewellery and design always played a big role. Being trained as a goldsmith, a fine artist and an art teacher, I learned many ways of creating and expressing. Designing and making jewellery has always been the core and working within the contemporary and conceptual field is where I feel comfortable.
I continue to develop myself as a jeweller and an artist working in my own studio, studying new techniques and experimenting with different concepts.
I try to expand my artistry skills by following advanced technical courses and masterclasses (e.g., plique-à-jour and diverse casting techniques).
There are phases where I draw, paint, sculpt or work in ceramics. Designing and making
jewellery is always the core.
By nature I tend to work small. In jewellery I can work big. Contemporary jewellery enables me to translate my art into wearable pieces. They often but not always have a conceptual character. They often but not always are wearable.
Some pieces are unique and stand by themselves. Some grow as a family.
I have this need for series. They move like a red thread through my career and keep returning and developing. I have multiple ideas at a time. I can develop these just fine along side of each other. That's how I like to work, even though it can be a bit chaotic. A series is never really finished. There are times that I'm more inspired for one of them then for others and that's how they flow constantly, waiting for new energy to be revived.
I work very intuitive so in a way my work can be described as autobiographic. It's an ongoing process of personal development. It's all pieces of me.
